De Beers appoints Anglo American’s Mostyn as CFO

DE BEERS, the world’s largest diamond miner has appointed Gareth Mostyn as its chief financial officer.

Mostyn will join De Beers from Anglo American, which agreed to take control of De Beers in November last year by acquiring the Oppenheimer family stake for $5.1bn.

Mostyn has been with Anglo American since 2008, where served as head of corporate finance reporting to finance director, René Médori. Previously, Mostyn spent 12 years with The BOC Group.

Philippe Mellier, De Beers group CEO, said that Mostyn is already familiar with the business, and will “bring that knowledge, hands on experience and proven track record to the role.”
