Almanza steps up to G4S CEO after just a month as CFO

Ashley Almanza has had a busy first month at G4S, stepping up from CFO to replace Nick Buckles as CEO

AFTER JUST A MONTH as CFO, Ashley Almanza is to take over from Nick Buckles as G4S’ boss.

Almanza, one of the UK’s most experienced finance directors, took over from Trevor Dighton as CFO on 1 May. He will replace Buckles following the company’s AGM on 6 June.

Security firm G4S said today that Almanza’s appointment to CFO had been made on the premise that he would be in a position to eventually take over the CEO role. But both internal and external candidates were considered for the position, G4S added.

Stuart Curl, CFO for UK, Ireland and Africa has been appointed acting CFO while a search to replace Almanza begins.

Following the issues surrounding G4S’ provision of personnel for the London Olympics contract last year, DHL global sectors CEO Eddie Aston joins in the new role of COO.

John Connolly, chairman of G4S, said: “The board is extremely pleased to have attracted Ashley Almanza to the group. He brings a wealth of experience from working across international borders in complex businesses and we are confident he will provide strong strategic and operational leadership to the group.

“We are also confident that in introducing Eddie Aston into the new COO role we will further strengthen our operating processes, including in the key area of risk management.”

Ashley Almanza said: “G4S is a great global business with enormous long term potential and I am looking forward to working with a highly experienced and capable management team as we take the business forward. I am also delighted that we have strengthened the team with the appointment of Eddie Aston.”
