Kier Group FD Mursell to take chief exec role

Haydn Mursell to take over from Paul Sheffield as chief executive at Kier

THE FD of Kier Group is to step up into the chief executive’s role later in the year.

Haydn Mursell, group FD of the construction and support services business, will take over from Paul Sheffield in July.

Mursell has served as FD since 2010, and assumed responsibility for the property division in June 2013. He joined having served as deputy FD at Balfour Beatty, and also served at Bovis Lend Lease.

A search has now begun for his replacement. “Haydn has done an excellent job as finance director since joining the Group in 2010 and has demonstrated that he is the right person to take over from Paul,” said chairman Phil White.

Mursell said: “I get tremendous satisfaction from working in the sector. In this industry we produce something incredibly tangible, which makes a very real contribution to our landscapes, our communities and all of our lives.”

Sheffield has served with Kier for 30 years, and most recently guided the business through its acquisition and integration of the acquisition and integration of road maintenance service provider May Gurney.

Kier also announced that trading remains in line with board expectations.

Its share price is unchanged in this morning’s trading, at 1,860p, valuing the business at £1bn by market cap.
