Clarke swaps engineering for landscaping in new FD role

Jack Clarke to serve as group FD of Marshalls, with long-serving Ian Burrell stepping down

LONG-SERVING Marshalls group FD Ian Burrell is to leave the business, with a senior AMEC executive taking on the role.

Burrell joined the FTSE-listed landscaping business 13 years ago, but will step down as group FD after the appointment of Jack Clarke.

AMEC change management director Clarke will take on the role before the end of 2014, while Burrell will remain with the group up to June 2015 to help with the transition.

Chief executive Martin Coffey praised Burrell’s efforts, and his “robust and prudent management” of the company’s finances.

“I am also personally grateful to him for his help and support during my initial year at Marshalls,” said Coffey. “His personal commitment, competence and integrity are widely recognised both internally and by our shareholders.”

Coffey added that Clarke would bring wide knowledge of the construction sector and “considerable” operational experience to the role.
