DISCOUNT retailer Poundland has announced a brace of non-executive appointments who will join its board on 30 October.
Miles Roberts, currently group chief executive of recycled packaging supplier, DS Smith, will become a member of the audit, remuneration and nominations committees, while fellow NED Tim Jones will serve as chairman of the audit and risk committee. Jones, a chartered accountant and current group finance director of Mitchells & Butlers was previously group finance director of Interserve.
Darren Shapland, Poundland chairman, said: “These appointments to the board are a major boost to Poundland. Both Miles and Tim will bring valuable senior experience in strategic development and sound financial performance that will be a great asset to Poundland as we continue to grow the business in the UK and abroad.”
