Compass Group FD takes on divisional COO role in management reshuffle

Dominic Blakemore named chief operating officer for Europe as part of a management reshuffle at the FTSE 100 catering outsourcing business

COMPASS GROUP has appointed group finance director Dominic Blakemore as chief operating officer for Europe as part of a management reshuffle at the FTSE 100 catering outsourcing business.

Andrew Martin, current COO for Europe and Japan, will step down on 1 December when Blakemore will become COO for Europe, including Turkey.

Johnny Thomson, who is currently regional managing director of the group’s Latin American business, will become group FD and will join the board as an executive director.

Blakemore was group FD from 2004 to 2012 and then became chief operating officer for Europe and Japan, where he is credited with guiding the business through a restructuring.

“This has resulted in a strong improvement in overall performance and an encouraging return to organic growth,” said Richard Cousins, Compass Group CEO.

Thomson, a chartered accountant, joined the group on 1 April 2009 as finance director for the group’s Brazilian business. He was appointed as CEO and later became the regional MD for its Latin American business comprising Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico.

On appointment to their new roles, Blakemore and Thomson will receive base salaries of £640,000 and £575,000 respectively.
