Yak-counters to Beancounters

British accountants seem to be catching the travel bug like never before. The Scottish ICA has recently signed itself up to train budding auditors and financial managers in Moscow and Uganda.

Now comes the opportunity of being sent to Outer Mongolia. Mongolians, content until now to measure their activities in yaks’ heads and mohair, have finally been bitten by the standardisation bug.

Work has already begun on a conceptual framework – so it should only be a couple of decades before the Mongolians join the rest of us in fruitless debates about whether the cost of the latest border clashes are exceptional items or not.
