Comic-style plan to revitalise faltering TQM

There has been plenty of talk about Total Quality Management (TQM) being on the wane, but in an attempt to reverse disillusionment about the technique, Professor John Oakland, undoubtedly the British guru of quality management, has joined with cartoonist Peter Morris to create the Beano of TQM.

The book, “a pictorial guide for managers”, includes strips depicting scenes such as an unreconstructed production manager being visited by a ghostly guru who shows him the error of his ways. Discovering TQM, he is rewarded by a customer with the words: “You’re poetry in motion.” The book, published by Butterworth Heinemann, seems to regard managers as Top Quality Morons, not a good start.
