GRANT THORNTON has made it into the FTSE 100 as auditor, the first time that six firms have been represented since auditor ranking lists the Adviser rankings list has been published.
The Advisor Rankings Ltd (ARL) guide, which has been published since 2005, has ranked Grant Thornton joint fifth alongside BDO, after GT’s client Sports Direct International was promoted from the FTSE 250.
However, BDO is still overall fifth in terms of FTSE 100 clients’ market cap with £4.2bn (Randgold Resources), with GT’s client pulling in a market cap of £4.1bn.
In terms of total stock market clients Baker Tilly shot its numbers up to 74 clients from 66, largely due to its merger with RSM Tenon in the latter half of this year, but remained in the seventh spot.
UHY Hacker Young held its ninth position despite gaining five clients. However, Chantrey Vellacott moved up one place to 11 after picking up two clients – taking their total to 19. The total number of stock market clients also saw Moore Stephens (London) and Shipleys debut into the table at 20, with eight clients each.
In the AIM auditors’ chart, Chantrey Vellacott DFK moved up one place to 12, Chapman Davis moved up one to 16 and Kingston Smith moved up one to 17.
